As you can see, the valley is mostly composed of rough canyons and crags. All ships wouldn't be able to get close to the main area, much less dock inside of it. The only way inside is to fly, which is where the Charizard come in. The Valley is dedicated to the might of Charizard and Dragon-Type Pokemon, so there are plenty of landmarks and statues in tribute to the greatest. It is possible to live here, but not a lot of people do. In fact, only the most dedicated trainers are found here.
History:
Charicific Valley has been in Johto for ages, it was made by a group of pioneers from Blackthorn in testament to the might of Dragon Pokemon. They arrived to some canyons, and discovered Charizard living there. Not willing to relinquish their homeland, the Charizard put up a fight against the pioneers. Until some Dragon types negotiated and reached an agreement, they lived there together in peace after that. Since then, they decided to name it "Charicific Valley", to always remember that this is, and always will be, their home. Now, the valley serves as training grounds for these Pokemon, under the guidance of Lyza, a decedent of that tribe.
