If you been to Pokemon RPs, you know you HAVE TO start out, say New Bark Town, and only start out with starters. Some RPs also let you choose other Pokemon. Here, you can start out with a selected Pokemon, and start out in ANY TOWN. However, say you started with a Kanto Pokemon, you must start out in a Kanto town. Also, you can start out with some Pokemon right off the bat. However, we'll judge if the Pokemon you start out, and what level they are, is okay.
If you want to start out with the starters, like Charmander, Squirtle, or Bulbasaur, you MUST start out in Pallet Town. If you do get a Pokemon from a professor, you'll also get a Poke-Dex.
Poke-Dexes in this RP are special, like in the Pokemon manga. Poke-dexes can scan a trainer's Pokemon, and also prevent evolution, while trainers without a dex have no choice, unless the Pokemon is holding an Everstone. They also allow you to switch Pokemon from your boxes, no matter where you are, while trainers without dexes have to go to the Pokemon Center to do so. Also, you can trade Pokemon with trainers that have Poke-dexes, while those without them have to use trade machines in centers.
OH YES! Those with Poke-dexes are likely to get great prizes throughout the journey. Those who started out with already strong Pokemon, and no Poke-Dex won't likely get these prizes.
In short: You can start out with any Pokemon you like, as long as they're Basic or Baby, and are not Legendaries or Pseudo-Legendaries. But if you want a Poke-Dex (Which allows you to take part in special events), you must start out with the traditional Kanto starters...
Buuuuuut, canon characters of either anime, game, or manga can be an exception.
You can also play as other type of characters, if you like, like Elite Fours and Gym Leaders. However, those gym leaders must have someone minding gyms if the gym leader is planning on a journey (like Brock and Misty).
