Ever hear of 'anger managment issues' and 'short fuse'? Sapphire could very well be the embodiment of this; acting much like a wild Pokémon when it comes to trusting strangers, or being insulted, or having her trust betrayed... just do anything to slight her, and boy, are you in for a treat.
Personality:
As mentioned, Sapphire has taken on many characteristics of a wild Pokémon; being somewhat of a survivalist after having personally fought against the local fauna (Zigzagoons and Poochyenas) for a few years. She's fearless, and somewhat territorial as well; as if intending to show herself as the alpha around any potential foe. That said, she does have a certain knack for aiding helpless Pokémon when they're in need, and (in extreme cases) other people in trouble against wild Pokémon.

From a young age, May's been awestruck by the power possessed by her father Norman, the Gym Leader of Petalburg City, and has always tried to emulate that. As she was younger, she took things somewhat literally; thinking that the saying that Norman 'lives for Pokémon' meant that he had first-hand experience in dealing with Pokémon. Thus, much to the chagrin of her more conservative mother, Sapphire's been tackling wild Pokémon herself; disregarding the dangers of approaching them without a Pokémon to learn from them and grow stronger. As her 11th birthday approaches, though, she's begun to feel that she can't grow any stronger from just the Pokémon at Route 1; she needs to move further out and learn from other Pokémon...
