Well apparently, the route was also the Viridian Park, where many trainers were hanging around, talking, showing off their Pokemon, battling, and most of all...
....trading.
There was a trading computer, watched by some uniformed man, with a Pokemon League logo on his orange shirt, lazily reading a magazine.

 Well, there was this cocky-looking ace trainer trying to trade his Scyther for very rare Pokemon, mostly either Charmander, Squirtle, or a Bulbasaur. Trainers tend to be like this, trying to trade for Pokemon like starters or something rarer.  There was a large hiker man who was trying to sell off a Machop for a lot of money. Seem to be a rather desperate attempt to gain quick cash on a Pokemon.  There was some school-girl trying to give up a Tentacool for something cuter. Yes, girls like her find Tentacool rather gross to even look at. There's probably not a girl around who find Tentacools beautiful.  And there was a bug catcher trying to trade a Beedrill, but he will only trade for different bug types. No such luck with him if you don't have a bug-type. |

"...." Snerking, his lips trembled, trying to contain laughter, but... "Hahahaha!! Are you kidding me?! I can find those things in my backyard!" Studying the poke-balls on Tayten's belt, he can see through their transparent shells, especially the Charmander. "But I be happy to trade for that Charmander of yours. You're never gonna find a Scyther in your life, kid."
